If One More Person Misspells My Daughters Name.. I'm Gonna' Call Their 6th Grade Teacher and Complain!!

When Two Vowels Go Walking

When two vowels go walking
The first one does the talking
In "boat" you hear the "o" and not the "a"

In "meat" you hear the "e"
The "a" sits quietly
The second vowel you see but you don't say

Just the two of us together
In "train" and "pail" and "rain"
The "a" speaks up; the "i" does not
Shh! Let me explain

When two vowels go walking
The first one does the talking
In "brain" you hear the "a" but not the "i"

In "soap" the "o" is clear
The "a" you never hear
In "say" you say the "a" and not the "y"

Shh! Isn't it neat?
Shh! It can't be beat!
Shh! It's such a dream!

Don't mean to boast
But here's a toast
We're quite a team!

When two vowels go walking
The first one does the talking
I'm sorry, number two, it's such a shame

Although it gives you pain
The rule is very plain
When two vowels walk
The first one says its name!

Yes, when two vowels walk
The first one says its name!

I don't get....

Passing Time; Two

It's 12:15 a.m..... I just can't seem to wait!
I open your door, sneak to your bedside, and softly pat your back. You sigh, rolling over. Very, VERY quietly I sing Happy Birthday. My sleepy sweet angel.. you wake and drowsely say "again?".. I sing again, tuck you all snug in your boo-ie's, give you a little kiss. I tiptoe back out, both loathe to wake you yet eager to see your sweet, sweet smile come morning.

In the last 365 days you have blossomed from a mischievous little imp into a headstrong girl; sure of yourself and your decisions. You are in a bed now, not a crib. You are starting to dress yourself. You can and do open any and all doors between you and an adventure. You know what you want in life and you know how to get it... Weather that be asking for it or doing it on your own. You're also tough.. one of the toughest kids I have ever met. You meet every challenge head on, fearless. You make me proud in all that you do. We may butt heads occasionally ( cookies for breakfast?) but your strength amazes me. You are fast becoming your own little person with your own ideas, wants and needs. Watching you grow up and away from me has been hard.. but then you'll come up to me, hold out your little arms and say, in that sweet, sweet small voice of yours, "Mama, Hold You?" and snuggle yourself into my body; further into my heart. I love you so much Raegan. You are my world; my world, all wrapped up in silly giggles and bathtub bubbles; in "Mama, hold you?" and butterfly kisses. Thank you. Thank you for letting me be a part of you; For letting me watch you grow.

Happy Birthday, Raegan. Your Mama loves you!

100 Times Better

This is the best it has looked in 2 days. She cries whenever I bring out the camera so these are the only ones I was able to catch today. This morning it looked like a big red kiwi.. that size anyway. Just this big round pink thing with a lash line in the middle. We both cried. Posted by Picasa

Periorbital Cellulitis

Not Pink Eye. Not an inner ear infection or strep or tonsilitis. Periorbital Cellulitis

Today we went back to the hospital when she woke up and couldn't open her eye. It was so swollen it bulged out of her head a good inch. After lots of poking this and prodding that... we were given a diagnosis and sent off to the lab to get some blood drawn to check to see if the infection was in her blood ( it was). I thought giving shots were hard... 5 pokes on her right arm yeild nothing but one screaming little girl. 2 pokes on her left arm finally got us the blood they needed. Then it was back to the Dr.'s office. She got a mega dose shot of Rocephin and gets to go back tomorrow and do it all over again. Poor little one! The good news is it is now 11:13 and she just opened her eye for the first time today.. so something is working!

Still not sure about the birthday party.. she isn't contageous but maybe won't be feeling up to par on Thursday, and I want her to have FUN if we're going to have a party! I'll ask the doc tomorrow what she thinks....

Anyway. Fun fun fun.

The eye... It Is Puffy and Red

But not Pink Eye, Perhaps? Lord, I hope not. I'd have to cancell the Birthday party if it is! Hoping it is just a symptom of all the stress she's had with the fever/ear infection/strep throat.. we'll see how it looks tomorrow. Poor Baby!

His Happy Place

Kael LOVES to stand. When he is extra grumpy, chances are you can calm him simply by standing him up. He's leaning back on my hand here as he has NO balance... but he is standing! Posted by Picasa

The Big Week.

Well this is it... the big week. Raegan will be turning TWO on thrusday! This being her special week and all, I decided to do some new and FUN things with her!

YESTERDAY.............. we got to go to the Emergency Room! Yay! 105.2 fever and vomiting made this neat little trip possible, with lots of poking and prodding.. she even got to have her temperature taken rectally.... THREE times! It was SO fun! And! And!Guess what we left with? A diagnosis of Strep thorat and a nasty inner ear infection! What a great way to start our week, huh??

and TODAY..... well the fun never ends around here! Today it looks like we're going to go ahead and trek back to the doctors office as it seems we ALSO have PINK EYE!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY week Raegan! I hope it's one you never forget! I know I won't.

The Big Eight-Oh

Today was spent visiting with the family at Grandjacks 80th birthday party. Fun! People there I haven't seen in YEARS! Alas, Matt wasn't able to attend so I was too busy chasing around Raegan to take many pictures and just now noted that I didn't get ANY of the Birthday Boy! Sorry Grandjack!! I'll fill up the camera on my next visit!
In the mean time, here's a few for you!
