Periorbital Cellulitis

Not Pink Eye. Not an inner ear infection or strep or tonsilitis. Periorbital Cellulitis

Today we went back to the hospital when she woke up and couldn't open her eye. It was so swollen it bulged out of her head a good inch. After lots of poking this and prodding that... we were given a diagnosis and sent off to the lab to get some blood drawn to check to see if the infection was in her blood ( it was). I thought giving shots were hard... 5 pokes on her right arm yeild nothing but one screaming little girl. 2 pokes on her left arm finally got us the blood they needed. Then it was back to the Dr.'s office. She got a mega dose shot of Rocephin and gets to go back tomorrow and do it all over again. Poor little one! The good news is it is now 11:13 and she just opened her eye for the first time today.. so something is working!

Still not sure about the birthday party.. she isn't contageous but maybe won't be feeling up to par on Thursday, and I want her to have FUN if we're going to have a party! I'll ask the doc tomorrow what she thinks....

Anyway. Fun fun fun.
