A Name, A Name, What's in a Name?

OK. Names. Totally stumped. Really. Here's the problem... I had a girl name that I love. Crap. Can't call the little man by a girl name! ( Brynna
Here's the other problem.... Raegan is a GREAT name! But it hinders us from using many of the boy names we already like... For example, we love the name Rowen... But Raegan and Rowen?? I don't think so. We also like Duncan... Raegan and Duncan... still no go.
SO.. I am on the hunt. I need great Boy names.. original names, not weird names. I tend to like Irish/Scottish sounding names, but then again, Rowan is Austrailian.. and Bishop ( another name I like, but am not sure about) is what... British?
Davinie suggested Grady.. which has definately gone on my "Ooh I Like" list. It is not common, but it is not weird.. and it doesn't have any ugly knick names that I can think of. Here's some of the names we have previously considered, just so you know what we tend to like:

Kael ( Kay-L)
Griffyn
Balin ( Bay-Lin)
Bishop
Ashe
Wyatte
Lief ( Leaf)
Aspen
Duncan
Rowan

So, some were discarded because I tend to like 2 syllable names. Some will go out because of the similarities to Raegans name. But you get the idea.....

ANYHOO... Any and all input will be welcomed!

Don't you know a Balin? I don't care for Ashe..... too close to a girl name, nor do I care for Aspen... definitely girl. Don't like Duncan at all... Griffyn is cute. Rowan and Raegan aren't too weird together..... not sure about Kael or Bishop..... Wyatte is cute.... but a little common these days..... I guess, right now, I like Grady too! - But don't go by my opinion. That's one reason I haven't shared any of my names. I don't care if you like it or not... when you see the cute little baby with the name you didn't like, you will suddenly LOVE it! So I want to keep you in suspense!

Most of these names have already been ruled out for one reason or another.. or are waiting for a good companion name. They are really just an example of the kind of names we are attracted to.. In the end, I agree with you that I coldn't care less what OTHERS think of the name, becaue I know when they are introduced to little man __________ the name won't matter at all, it will be just the verbal cue to who he is!

I liked Quinlan, because I think the name Quin is cute for short. And Grady... well, Gray is really cute, even if it sounds like Rae...

I'll keep thinking! We've had our names for so long I haven't even thought about looking for more....

You know we had the hardest time finding a boys name because we already had one boy and I didn't like any other names and Asa finally decided on Zachary but some of the boys names that I liked were Jaden, Carson, or Colin.

What about Ian (God is gracious), Kieran (keer-un), Brady, Braedan, Connor (means much wanted), Evan (young warrior), Garran (means shrubbery....sorry, thought that was too goofy to pass up. Who the hell names their kid something that means shrubbery??), Garrett (to watch), Or go with something non-celtic but sounds similar.......I know a guy named Kelby, and didn't you like the name Colton before?? You could call hime Cole. Then again, Kelby sort of sounds like kelp (seaweed), or like Colby, my favorite kind of cheese (actually, it is Colby/Jack cheese. That chedder just seems so sharp in comparison!)......No matter what name you pick, kids will find a crappy nickname for it, so don't worry too much about it. As long as his name isn't Scully or Winfred or something like that, he will survive grade school (saw those names on the irish baby name site, too.)

Love it, but please don't name him Garrett Merritt! And I like Grady better than Brady! More unique! Good suggestions though!

Hee, hee...didn't even think about Garrett Merritt.....that would be hysterical....

I hate to say it, but being the playground terror that I am, if you name him Grady and he ends up remotely plump, the kids will probably call him gravy. Call him Brady and anyone who remembers the Brady Bunch will be all over him like white on rice. I dig Griffen, but I may have to whup your butt if we have another boy... and that Garrett Merritt thing is totally hilarious. I may have peed a little!!! Oh, and I like Kael too. Very unique and singular.

Matt and Sabrina aren't going to have a fat son..... I still like Grady! There kid is going to have enough esteem to not be teased anyway. Sabrina, Griffen is really cute... did you ever watch Party of Five? That guy was adorable!

Yeah, I have to say the possible knick names are the least of my concerns.. I never had one ( other then with family) and neither did my sibs... Besides, with Matt giving half the genes, the odds of him being fluffy are slim! I do like Griffyn ( never did watch Party of Five) and it may grow on me more as I think of it, but right now, I haven't found anything that I can say "Oh I LOVE" to.

Okay, bean, it's time for an update. Make a new list of names you like, so that we know what's out, and what's in. I'm anxious to see who this little goober is! I was lying down earlier, and my little bunny was running wild and I asked if it was a boy or a girl, and received a wild kick for girl... so who knows!?!! Only 76 days left!

I have decided that I really like the name Clara, for a girl. (Being that I am not currently pregnant, I make no claim on this, just have thought of it lately, and will probably change my mind later). Doesn't that sound sweet? Like a delicate little girl. Anyway....I know you are having a boy, but Davinie has no name suggestion thing on hers, and she still has a girl possibility (although I think she has already decided on the names for girl or boy)

Clara is not one of our names, and I will let you lay claim to it. None of my children will have Clara, or anything that can be shortened to Clara..... like..... Well, nothing can. So, Clara is yours. It is a cute little girl's name. Very girlie, and a complete surprise from you. I don't know what I'd expect, but Clara wouldn't be it. No Clara, and no Brynna from me, even though since I was young, I have always liked the name Brynn Abby, because I went to school with a girl named Brynn Abby, first and last ... I don't know why, but I've always liked it. Maybe because I thought she was so cool? Anyway........
