Change for a Change

I am a moderator on a pregnancy and parenting forum here, and we have a member with a tragedy.

She has just learned that her 2 month old son has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type I, or Werdnif-Hoffman disease.

You can read more about the disease here:

EMedicine.com

The prognosis for this little man isn't good. His life expectancy at this point is 6 months. He will be on a feeding tube till the day he dies. He is on oxygen most of the time. He has been sent home, and hospice is attending him.

The story is long and hard to piece together in an easy e-mail for friends and family. Basically, a young family has gotten some devastating news, and have no happy ending at the end of the story with their son.

The last thing they need to worry about is money.

Now I'm going to do something I have never done before... I'm going to beg money off of my friends and family... Any little bit counts... To send to this family in need. They have never asked for it, are not expecting it, but they need it. If my friends and family were to pass this on to THEIR friends and family... think of the difference we could make!

If it is at all possible for your family to spare some "change" for this family, please do so! Your "change" could make a huge "change" in how they have to deal with this tragedy.

Here is a link to baby Aydan's Piczo site ( a picture site.. this was created before the diagnosis.. although he did spend time in the NICU due to some extra fluid in his brain... )

And here is the latest video of Aydan, after he was sent home from the hospital. Aydans mommy, Lory, says in her forum post that this is a GREAT day for Aydan! It gives you an idea of what life is like for this beautiful little boy.

If you are able to spare some money for Aydan, you can either Pay Pal it to me ( mama2beans@gmail.com ) or I can find an address for you to mail it directly to the family... she is busy so that may take some time. Just let me know.

I will be paying all Pay Pal fees involved with the transfer, as well as making a donation of my own.

Please, help if you can. If you aren't able at this time, please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I can't imagine what they are going through right now.

I will admit to some shock, surprise, and more then a little serious disappointment at the complete lack of support... and not just monitarily. Not even a supportive COMMENT???

Just surprised.
