Twilight Obsession: Snippet

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

Oh thank GAWD. I haven't read the snatched version of Midnight Sun online, even when Stephenie put it on her website, because she also said this:

I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here...

and, it is KILLING ME not reading the available draft. I hear it's incredible. Also, Husband purchased me the soundtrack and it has been feeding my obsession quite nicely, so I encourage other Twilight fans to run on out and get it!

**EDIT**

I am such a huge boob. That statement about the impending release of Midnight Sun was made BEFORE the manuscript was leaked. GAH!! Will I never read it??!!

Twilight Obsession: Discussion 1

Jasper Hale

p.18 Twilight.
"Another was taller, leaner, but still muscular and honey blond. "

This is the man that we learn is 19/20ish and the model-esque vampire newborn fighting machine. Big. Tough. Fast. Intimidating, yet super sexy. Jackson Rathbone? Is this who you picture as Jasper Hale? Or am I just too blinded by the aweful hair style choice the director used?

Also, he seems to be channeling Johnny Depp in Benny & Joon for most of his facial expressions in Twilight. He's supposed to look cautiously reserved, aware that he wants to eat you, eat you dead, and yet putting forth a dignified effort to not pounce on you at the littlest whim.
Not on the verge of vomiting as he runs away crying.

And...................... Discuss!

*edit* OH MY GAWD. It has already been done! Jasper/Edward Scissorhands???

And now that I look at it, it may be that Rathbone is simply taking his facial cues from all things Depp.......Except it's not the sexy, HOTT Depp we all know and love, but the goofy one we all kind of giggle at...

Jasper is supposed to be HOT! Come on Rathbone!

I'm kind of experimenting with this whole mess-with-the-horizon theory... does having the picture tipped kind of throw you off? Or an artistic way to get a different view?
The canyon trail is absolutely beautiful this time of year!
Kael got a tow home when he got tired on the way back. Next time we're bringing a dog leash so we can just pull him behind us, lol!

Snapshot

LOVE Matts arm sticking up above my head with his camera, taking a picture of Kael. Slightly less love for that extra chin.
LOVE how she loves to squeeze into pictures with me. Slightly less love for the way those sunglasses ride up on my face when I smile.

Everyone Loves a Freebie!

And I'm no exception! So head on over to Glidden for their National Paint Giveaway and pick out a free quart of paint! I got Refreshing Mimosa... I'm hoping to get to use it in our Forever-Home kitchen! Or maybe a bathroom........

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a textbook hellicopter parent. Now I could spend all day justifying my parenting, ( if there is a way to kill or "just" maim himself or others, Kael will find it) but the bottom line is, I like to keep as much control over my kids as possible. Mupppet, being the third child, has suffered the most from this parenting style. So today was a big day, both for Muppet and for myself. You see, today is the day that I let go of the leash and actually let Muppet play. I was worried sick he'd head straight for the open spaces in the fenced courtyard & promptly run into traffic and get run over. Or just run away. But not my Muppet! Where I was, he was. I'd call and he'd scamper right over to me, no matter what else was happening around him. SUCH a good boy! I don't think I'll ever be confortable enough to go off leash anywhere that isn't mostly fenced in, but for now we're both pretty happy and proud of ourselves.

Take Advantage of Crappy Central Oregon Weather

We flew kites at the coast and the kids loved it so much that we flew kites again today... and will probably do the same tomorrow and the next day till these bargain kites give out on us... and then I'm considering investing in some fancy real sturdy wood kites.. maybe one with two handles for Mama... because kite flying is fun, we ALL love doing it, the weather here sucks any way and I might as well take advantage of it! Also, it's kind of good exercise, for your arms anyway! And anything that gets my family outside and playing together is a good thing. So it's going to the goal/wishlist!

Beach June 2009

Oregon Coast

On Monday the kids and I gathered up a buddy & child and headed over for a week at the Oregon coast, getting back this evening. We had a BLAST. Just the Moms and kids, we drank wine all evening and chased giggling little all over the beach all day. The beach house we stayed in is an adorable home, just the perfect size and just a hop away from an INCREDIBLE white powdery beach. The weather was incredible, with both bright sunny days and some comfortably overcast days, with the temperature staying in a cozy t-shirt or light jacket range the whole time. Our days were simple; wake, eat, head to the beach. Home, eat, nap, head to the beach. Home, eat, bed...... break out the box of wine. Lather, rinse, repeat. We even managed to get up to an awesome tide-pool beach where the giggles and squeals about the "sticky" sea anemones just made my day... and Kael only managed to fall INTO the tide pools once. There were ample opportunities, so score one for Mom. ( we also made it home with two bags full of "illegal" sea shells found on the shore. again, score one for mom.) I am just so proud and in love with my children. They were pretty well behaved the whole time, listened to directions when it was important, were kind and considerate of others in general, and made what could have been a fiasco into the funnest light easy summer get away we've ever had. Next time we'll have to bring Matt, lol!! ALthough he got quite the vacation himself this week, with school being out and the ability to sleep in as late as he wanted, for three days straight! Lucky guy! Even on vacation, the kids didn't sleep past seven.. but who would want to, when the outside is just waiting for you to explore it??!!
